We know that choosing the right start for your child’s education is very important and at St Wystan’s Nursery our priority is to provide a warm, family atmosphere where children will feel happy, secure and valued within a cosy and nurturing environment. Children can enter our Nursery at the age of 2½ years of age and benefit from a free flow of activities through three classrooms, with a dedicated outdoor space for them to explore.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and provide rich and varied experiences for children, with appropriate challenge and support and a balance of child-initiated and adult focused activities. The EYFS requires every child to have a Key Person to whom their parent can turn to for information, reassurance and to share concerns. In Nursery and Kindergarten, this is a designated member of the team. Each Key Person is responsible for collating assessment information about their children.
Our role is to stimulate and encourage children’s development and enjoyment of learning so that every child can flourish and learn at their own pace and in their own individual way. Our overall aim is to ensure that your child’s first steps into early years education are enjoyable and that they are encouraged to be confident, independent and motivated learners.
The Nursery is led by a fully qualified teacher who is supported by Level 3 qualified teaching assistants, with over 30 years combined experience of nurturing little ones to settle into their new surroundings. Nursery children have access to the very best quality specialist teaching staff and enjoy lessons in Music, P.E., French and Forest School.
At St Wystan’s, we work in close partnership with parents and value free lines of communication. Staff are available to talk to parents at the beginning and end of each session, sharing information about the children’s learning and development through a communication booklet.
