We are delighted to announce that St Wystan’s pupil Nokutenda Mushuku has been selected for the role of Young Nala in The Lion King UK Tour.
Everybody here at St Wystan’s is immensely proud of this fantastic achievement, and we are in awe of the resilience and determination that Nokutenda has shown throughout this process.
First auditioning for the role back in July 2022, she then went on to secure the position of Young Nala in mid-September, having made it all the way through from an open audition to a final selection round of four children, eventually becoming the first-choice casting.
Not only was Nokutenda successful in her Lion King auditions, but she had also been selected to play the role of ‘Shepherd’ in the Nativity Musical, leaving her with a very difficult decision to make! After much deliberation, the decision of the Lion King was made and rehearsals soon began.
Her busy rehearsal and performance schedule has meant much time spent away from the classrooms of St Wystan’s, however both the school and the Disney tutoring team have taken every possible step to provide continued support for Nokutenda.
When asked about how she has found the journey so far, Nokutenda stated “This is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and I hope everyone gets a chance to do something as exciting as this.”.
