Congratulations are in order for Eisha (Y6), our resident superstar tennis player. Eisha was part of a team of five extremely talented tennis players, who together represented Derbyshire U12 County Cup Team in Malvern over the weekend. Working together, the team went onto win the overall division, beating Staffordshire, Hereford and Worcestershire and Shropshire.

True to form, Eisha put in 110% to both her singles and doubles performance, with Team Coach, Katy Wilson commenting on her resilience, consistency and willingness to chase down every single ball! Eisha convincingly won all three singles matches and both of her doubles matches. Fantastic work!

School sport is a hugely important and integral part of school life at St Wystan’s. Our aim is that all St Wystan’s children will have the chance to compete for their house and school in a variety of different sports, with many pupils representing St Wystan’s at a national level. The school sport provisions stand apart from many stand alone prep school, thanks to our strong relationship with Repton School.

Headteacher, Mrs Karan Hopkinson, is immensely proud of Eisha and all of her hard work both at school and out of the classroom. “It is fantastic to see Eisha excel in a sport that she loves, her dedication to her training and to School sport is outstanding. I know she has a bright future ahead of her whichever path she may choose”.

Eisha’s performance over the weekend is another success since her return to the tennis court following the most recent lockdown. At the start of April, she played in the LTA U12 National Youth Series at Repton School, winning 4 out of 5 of her matches and is now a a reserve in the National Finals.

Congratulations Eisha, for your continued fantastic performance on the court.
