Phonics Information Evening 19th June 2018

“Phonics? I can’t remember doing that at school!” I hear many parents say. Well phonics is actually an integral part of your child’s learning journey to reading and writing throughout their time in EYFS and KS1. At St Wystan’s we value the teaching and learning of phonics immensely and would therefore like to share some information with you about the following:

• What phonics is and why it is important?
• How we teach phonics here at St Wystan’s
• How you, as parents, can support your child’s phonics learning at home
We believe working alongside parents can boost a child’s learning of phonics and therefore improve their reading and writing ability from an early age.
