ISA Success for St Wystan’s Swimmers

St Wystan’s pupils Lydia, Molly and Hector stormed the pool at the London Aquatics Centre as they competed for the Midlands in the Independent Schools Association swimming national finals.

Lydia C (Y6) won gold in the 50m butterfly in spectacular style by breaking a record held for 19 years! Molly T (Y6) had an impressive swim in the 50m freestyle winning a bronze medal and Hector C (Y5) narrowly missed out (by 0.2 seconds!) on a podium place with a 4th position finish on the freestyle team who swam an incredible race. Molly and Lydia both won gold in their freestyle and medley relay teams and Lydia stepped in to help the Year 7 medley take silver.

Mrs Pearce commented: “I am bursting with pride at Hector, Lydia and Molly’s performances, attitudes and achievements. To travel to the Olympic pool in London and come away with such incredible performances and five medals is something they should all be extremely proud of. They worked extremely hard ahead of the finals and are a credit to the school. Congratulations to you all. It was a day to remember!”
