St Wystan’s swimmers to compete in the Independent Schools Association National Finals

We are very proud to have three pupils qualify to represent the Midlands in the ISA Swimming National finals held at the London Aquatic Centre at the end of November. Eleven St Wystan’s pupils attended the ISA Midlands swimming gala where each individual swam superbly and represented the school with confidence.

Congratulations to Lydia C (Y6) who swam 25m butterfly and freestyle in the qualifiers and won with the quickest time by over two seconds. She will swim in the individual butterfly, medley relay and the freestyle relay at the national finals. Swimming alongside Lydia will be Molly T (Y6) who swam freestyle in the qualifiers and qualified fastest in her category. Similarly, Hector C (Y5) qualified fastest in the freestyle qualifying round and will swim in the freestyle relay in London.

The PE curriculum at St Wystan’s enables children to experience different sporting activities whilst becoming both confident and competent. All children from Kindergarten up to Year 6 participate in swimming during PE lessons at Repton’s pool, an inspirational facility that was once the training venue to Olympic world-record holder Adam Peaty MBE.

It is fantastic to see so many pupils representing St Wystan’s in the qualifying rounds achievement for our pupils and we wish them the best of luck in the finals.
