Our Staff & Governors
Senior Leadership Team
My career began in industry, working in sales and training. Whilst my family were young, I retrained as a teacher and have worked in both state and the independent sector. I recently completed a Master’s Degree relating to children’s health and well-being.
Family life is very important to me and spending time walking, and skiing is something we all enjoy together. Another family member who thinks he is one of the children, is our springer spaniel, Max.
I did my teaching degree at Westhill College in Birmingham and graduated in 1996; I started my career at Foremarke Hall. I was there for almost ten years and taught in Nursery and Reception. I then worked as an Early Years Improvement Officer for Derbyshire County Council: this role involved me visiting Pre-Schools, Day Nurseries and schools to give advice and support with their early years provision. This was a very interesting job, but I missed teaching and working directly with the children, so I was very happy when the Head of Nursery position came up at St Wystan’s (especially as I had visited the Nursery as part of my job with DCC!) I have been teaching in the Nursery here since September 2012 and feel very lucky to be doing a job that I love.
I love playing many sports and getting involved in sports inside of school. I enjoy singing and being part of the staff/parent choir here at St Wystan’s too. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and travelling to different countries around the world, especially snowy places where I can ski! In addition to teaching, I also have a passion for baking and making lots of different cakes for special occasions.
Teaching has been a lifelong desire and after graduating from Bangor University, I took up my first teaching post in an independent school in Kent for 4 years. Whilst here, I taught in years 3 and 4 and had the opportunity to teach games along with swimming and led netball, rounders, swimming and athletic teams. Since leaving Kent, I have worked in state schools within Birmingham before moving to St Wystan’s. Since being at St Wystan’s, I have taught in Year 3 and 5 and am thoroughly enjoying my experience here. My interests include sport, travel and spending time with family and friends.
I have previously taught in a variety of age groups at schools in Tamworth, however, teaching is my second career. Before teaching, I achieved 24 years distinguished service in the Royal Navy, serving on a variety of ships and establishments across all three services. I have coached and played a wide variety of sports within the military and at local sports clubs. I am a member of a local soul band and enjoy singing at venues around the midlands region. I am married and have 2 teenage children.
I trained to become a teacher 8 years ago, after graduating from Loughborough University with a First Class Degree in Psychology. I have worked in a number of schools in Staffordshire, across KS1 and 2, and I joined St Wystan’s in 2016. What I love most about teaching at St Wystan’s, is that I get to share my passion for performing with the children! Since the age of 11, I have been ‘treading the boards’ at the Brewhouse, with a local musical theatre company.
My family is very important to me, and together we organise an annual Charity Night for Cancer Research UK. We have raised over £16,000 so far and counting!
I have recently joined St Wystan’s and I feel so welcomed by all staff, parents and children. I have had the good fortune of teaching abroad in a British international school in Egypt for 3 years, as well as in the UK. I have a keen interest in Maths and I am currently completing my PhD in Education, focusing upon Maths Anxiety. I also enjoy spending time with my family and visiting new and interesting countries!
I am the Form 1 teacher and computing coordinator. I have been teaching for 15 years in a variety of roles, mostly in independent schools. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, and going on exciting holidays.
I am the Kindergarten Teacher and proud Housemistress of Puffin. I have been a teacher for 7 years prior to which I was a senior research scientist for a major pharmaceutical company hence my love for all things science related! I have two young children and a dog who occupy most of my time, but I also enjoy running and playing netball.
