Sport
All our P.E., Games and Swimming lessons are taught by specialist teachers, enabling the pupils to develop their skills and confidence. A wide variety of sports are taught, depending on the age group and the time of year, so that the children can experience as many different activities as possible and they can find their sporting interests. They include swimming, football, netball, tag rugby, kwik cricket, rounders, cross-country, gymnastics, badminton, athletics, hockey and dance.
We have a range of facilities at our disposal to use for the various aspects of PE including a gym, sports fields, playground and swimming pool. This gives us the flexibility to provide a continuous programme of physical activity all year round.
We are keen to promote the participation in team sports and are focussed on the taking part rather than the winning. All pupils have a chance to represent the school at some sport during their time at St Wystan’s. Good sportsmanship is strongly emphasised. We have teams for most sports including swimming, football, athletics, tag rugby and cross-country. These cover a range of levels from ISA Midland area events to National representation. There are also House competitions that we hold within the school and we have an annual Sports Day to which family and friends are warmly invited.
We continue to have success in sport and most recently we have had representation in the ISA National Swimming Championships. In the past we have had success in cross-country, football and athletics with children going on to represent the county or nationally.
