Music and Drama

Being a school that prides itself on giving its pupils an all round education, the creative arts are fundamental to the ethos of St Wystan's. With there being three choirs, an orchestra, flute and recorder groups and individual tuition on a wide range on instruments, Music is given a high priority within the school. This accompanies a strong dramatic tradition, leading to several productions a year ranging from the Nativity plays to full musicals. Concerts and church services give opportunities for children to show their talents and rise to the challenge of performance. We have a large Music Room with Music Technology facilities and specialist Music teaching right through the school. We have recently been awarded the Sing Up! award for our outstanding participation in singing around the school.

'The pupils' spiritual awareness is excellent, not only as a result of regular reflective moments provided in assemblies, but also in their enjoyment of poetry and literature, and in their enthusiastic participation in orchestral and choral performances.' ISI Inspection Nov 2011
