ISA National Cross Country
Congratulations to Phoebe who came a very creditable 49th out of over 70 runners at the National ISA Cross Country championships last week. She ran very well despite appalling conditions to represent both the school and the Midlands region.

U11 Netball/Football v Pennine Way
The Netball team came out victorious 10-0 winners on Wednesday 3rd March in a match against Pennine Way Primary School. Obviously they played very well and have benefited from being able to gain some practice now that the weather has improved. The boys’ Football team, who had managed little practice because of the weather, played extremely well, only losing 1-0. This is a great achievement for them against children from a much larger school. Particular mention should go to the Year 4 boys who played, particularly Reuben who again put in another fine defensive display.

World Book Day
The year groups swapped classrooms on Thursday 4th March to take part in some shared reading experiences as part of World Book Day. Younger children read to older and then the teachers also read to a different class. The younger children really loved sharing their reading with the older children.

Uniform
We are looking into various items of uniform to see how to improve the quality and availability to you as parents. We are intending to improve the quality of the summer dresses for next year, but for this year you can purchase them from Schooltogs as usual. We are investigating a change to the jumper and cardigan and we have some samples, which would have the school name embroidered on, in the School office for you to see. Please do take the time to let us know your thoughts about them as they are a better quality and would make the uniform more ‘uniform’!

Clubs
There will not be a Netball Club on Tuesday as Mrs Anderson and Mrs Pearson will be at Stafford Grammar school with the U10 team who are playing in a tournament.

Friends of St Wystan’s School
Just a reminder that the Friends will be holding another AGM on Wednesday 10th March at 8pm which I would urge you to attend, if only to have the opportunity to tell me in which direction you think the Friends committee should go in regards to fundraising and social activities.

Holiday Club
Although the deadline for places on the Easter Holiday Club is still a few weeks away it is important that you let us know if you wish to use this facility over the Easter break. We have not had a great deal of interest so far and there is a possibility that it may not run. Please return your booking forms to the Office as soon as possible.

‘Buggy Wonderland’
Tickets are now on sale from the School Office for Stage Left Drama Club’s production of ‘Buggy Wonderland’, a feast of music, dancing and performance based around the life of bugs! The shows are on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th March and are always well received so don’t delay in reserving the best seats. Please support the pupils and staff involved as this is one of our biggest events of the year.

May Ball
You will have received an invitation to this years’ May Ball, to be held at Mickleover Court Hotel on May 8th. There are limited spaces for this event so I would urge you to return your ticket requests as soon as possible. We have some great ideas planned for the evening but as usual we are particularly looking for support for the auction and the raffle. If any parents or friends have any possible auction or raffle prizes that they are willing to donate then please contact either myself or any member of the Ball Committee.

Friday Entertainment
The Nursery children gave us a lovely rendition of a poem all about being messy with paint which I am sure that was told from experience (!), and Jack played us ‘Welsh Tune’ very confidently on his cornet, which he has only been learning since September. Well done to both!
