South Derbyshire Badminton
On Wednesday 24th February pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6 participated in the first South Derbyshire Badminton event at Etwall Leisure Centre. We are particularly pleased that the opportunity to take part in this event has happened as we have Badminton in our PE curriculum this term. The children took part in eight different activities against 5 other schools, based on the skills needed for the game, and then had time for some rallying practice and competition. Overall, our two teams displayed great teamwork and their fair share of skill before the Year 6 team ran out eventual winners. Congratulations to them and all the children that took part.

Chocolate Bingo
Just a reminder that tickets are on sale now from the School Office for Chocolate Bingo, which is taking place on Saturday 6th March at Rolleston Scout Hall. There are a limited number of places and this event was extremely popular last year so I would urge you not to hesitate if you are thinking of attending. It is a great family event with multitudes of chocolate available to win!! Please see Fiona Smith for further details and any offers of help would be most gratefully received.

‘Buggy Wonderland’
Tickets are now on sale from the School Office for Stage Left Drama Club’s production of ‘Buggy Wonderland’, a feast of music, dancing and performance based around the life of bugs! The shows are on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th March and are always well received so don’t delay in reserving the best seats. Please support the pupils and staff involved as this is one of our biggest events of the year.

May Ball
You will have received an invitation to this years’ May Ball, to be held at Mickleover Court Hotel on May 8th. There are limited spaces for this event so I would urge you to return your ticket requests as soon as possible. We have some great ideas planned for the evening but as usual we are particularly looking for support for the auction and the raffle. If any parents or friends have any possible auction or raffle prizes that they are willing to donate then please contact either myself or any member of the Ball Committee.

RSE scheme
All “opt out” forms should now have been returned to Form Teachers about our RSE scheme for this year. I thank all those parents that have supported this important initiative and can see the developmental approach that we have taken towards the subject matter.

Digital Cameras
As the school moves forward to developing other ways to record pupil’s achievements and evidence of learning we are looking to increase our number of digital cameras in the school. If anyone does have a good quality digital camera, in excellent condition, that they are no longer using and would be willing to donate it to the school we would be most grateful. Please see Mr Soutar.
