Bags2school
You have managed to raise a wonderful £128 by donating your unwanted clothes and items for this charity. Many thanks for your support.

Book and Cake sale
Thanks to everyone that supported the Friends Book and Cake sale last Friday by attending or donating items. As usual a lot of hard work had gone into the event and my thanks also go to the members of the Friends that manned the stalls during the afternoon. I believe the cakes alone raised £70, and not all through my purchases!, so I am sure that this was another successful fundraising event for the Friends.

House General Knowledge
After a hard fought competition between the Houses, answering questions ranging from ‘Which of the seven dwarves wore glasses?’ to ‘How many keys are there on a piano keyboard?’, Falcon House came out the eventual winners beating Osprey House by only two points. Well done to Falcon House for their second successive win and to all the children who took part in the teams.

RSE scheme
Included in today’s mailing is information regarding our Relationship and Sex Education scheme that will begin next half term. We took on board all the discussion that was so forthcoming during our consultation period with parents and hope that you will support us in this important strand to our pastoral curriculum. We have tried to be as detailed as we can with the topics that we will be covering and you, of course, have the option of your children not taking part in any of the sessions that you personally think are unsuitable. I would ask you to consider carefully the reasoning behind any opt outs as this can cause issues for sessions in later years. If you do not return the forms then we will assume that you are happy for your children to take part in all sessions.

Pupil Questionnaire
The School Council have put together a Pupil Questionnaire in order to gain information and opinion about certain aspects of the school from the people that really count – the children! We are asking all pupils from Kindergarten to Year 6 to complete a questionnaire and I would urge you to only lend a hand to the completion, not fill in your own ideas. After all you have all had your chance before! I am sure that the School Council will feedback their results next half term.

Absences
Please can I remind you that any absence due to illness needs to be authorised in writing by you on the child’s return to school. A verbal message is not sufficient. Also, any absence due to family holiday needs to have permission granted by the Headmaster before the event to ensure that this absence is authorised. This includes children in the Nursery and ensures that we have no unauthorised absences in the school.

Clubs
There will not be a Dance Club on Thursday 25th February for either class. Also, the Football and Netball Clubs will start again after half term on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

Friday Entertainment
We have had some great entertainment to finish off our half term this week. Oliver played ‘Shepherd’s Hey’ on the clarinet, an instrument that he has only been learning for 7 weeks. Then Georgina gave us a very confident rendition of ‘Old Macdonald had a Band’ on the piano. Well done to both children!
