Freaky Friday
Thanks again to everyone who took part in our fundraising day last Friday for the Haiti earthquake appeal and those that donated funds. We managed to raise a staggering £640 from your generous donations and, despite the awful weather ion the day, the children had a great time in their ‘Freaky’ outfits. We will be passing the money onto the Red Cross appeal.
Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics
On Thursday 28th January 14 boys and girls from Years 5 and 6 travelled to Pingle School to take part in the Sportshall Athletics competition, against other local schools in the South Derbyshire area. They participated in relay races as well as throwing, jumping and speed bounce events. All the children gave their best efforts for the school, coming in joint second place, and as usual there was a super sense of team spirit.
Friends Book and Cake Sale
Our next Book and Cake sale organised by the Friends will be on Friday 5th February at 3.30pm in the School Hall. Donations of cakes and books will be greatly received on the morning of the sale.
Swimming Rota
If there is any parent who is available on a Thursday morning to help with the swimming rota we would be most grateful. We rely heavily on the Friends to assist us in walking the children to the swimming pool and helping to get them changed, especially the younger children. We are most grateful for this help as we are able to provide swimming lessons for a great many children throughout the year. If anyone is available to help, and it is only usually for one week in a term, please can they inform the School Office or Mrs Osborne, who deals with the swimming rota.
Lunchtime Supervisor positions
We have openings for full time and relief lunchtime supervisors at the school. These are extremely important positions within the school and we are constantly looking for reliable people to step into these roles. If there is any parent, or if you know of anyone, who is looking for a couple of hours work a day, and this doesn’t have to be every day, then please contact Mrs Islip in the School Office for further details.
Friday Entertainment
Charlotte sang a lovely rendition of ‘Far Blue Sea’ and Alex sang ‘I can sing a rainbow’ beautifully. Both children were brilliant, well done!
