Happy New Year!
A warm welcome back to everyone, especially our new starters at St Wystan’s:
Nursery: Liam, Ella, Fiona and Samuel
I hope that they and their families enjoy their time with us and I am sure that existing parents and children will make them feel welcome.
Cold Weather
As we have entered a spell of particularly cold weather it is imperative that children come to school properly equipped. This means jumpers/cardigans, coats, hats, gloves and scarves and, if they want to be able to play in any snow we have, boots are needed too. I am also surprised to see some girls in socks rather than tights at the moment and would strongly recommend that they wear tights at this time of year.
If the weather worsens any decision to close the school will be placed on the Newsletters page of the school website www.stwystans.org.uk, but if anyone feels it is unsafe to travel then I recommend that you don’t!
Clubs and Activities
Many thanks for returning your activity forms for this term. Clubs begin on Monday 11th January. Football and Netball Clubs will begin after half term when the weather and light is better. Please make sure that if you have signed up for a club that your child attends every week, and if for some reason you cannot attend it is important that the leading adult knows before the club takes place.
Mrs Goodhead does have spaces in her Dance Clubs after school if any children are interested. Please contact her directly.
Return of Information
Please can you return any outstanding paperwork to the office as soon as possible. These include the Report Feedback sheet, the Ethnic Monitoring form and, for Years 2 and 3, the Maths Assessment consent forms.
Music Lessons
We have spaces for flute, brass, drums and vocal lessons this term. If any children are interested then please speak to Miss Spraggett who can advise on cost and availability.
Stage Show
Tamiya from Year 6 is appearing in ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham during February. This is obviously a great achievement for Tamiya and if anyone wishes to go along and watch the show she will be on stage on 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th, 11th, 15th, 16th, 19th and 20th February. Break a leg, Tamiya!!
Year 6 Entrance Exams
Over the next few weeks many of our Year 6 pupils will be taking their entrance exams, sports assessments and drama auditions to a variety of different Senior Schools. We obviously wish them all the best and I am sure that they will perform brilliantly. They have all worked hard in preparation for them and are all entering into them confidently and with enthusiasm. If you do see any fraught Year 6 parents, however, they may need comforting more, this can be a stressful time for them too!
Friday Entertainment
Verity played a very confident rendition on ‘Top Cat’ on the piano.
